You can check around you that many watches are touched with this fault. All the people are facing these problems.

Many people do not know the true reason behind this phenomenon, yet there are different solutions to this problem. Let’s talk about the most encountered cases of condensation in watch faces.

1) Drastic swings in temperature

This event usually takes place in winter. When you go outside then some drops enter inside the watch and hobble the function of the watch. These colloids also appear under the form of liquified droplets onto the watch surface, whenever you visit some cozy houses or buildings.

2) A crack in the glass

Once the face of the watch has crack then the internal structure of the watch will be disturbed. Through the crack this colloid will enter inside the watch and then you will have condensation in your watch.

3) A crumbling water-resistant seal

Sometimes, when the water-resistant seal is falling apart then there is also the possibility that you will have some drops inside the watch. Condensation also comes if the watch is not properly engineered and produced. Whenever you see the shabby seal then you should contact with an expert watchmaker.

4) A plunge into the deep

Water-resistance quality does not mean that the watch can stay underwater for several decades. There is a specific limit for this and if the watch is underwater for many years then the watch will be suffered. High water pressure also causes condensation.

5) No water-resistant qualification

Without a water-resistant seal, the watch also faces some troubles. When there is not a specific and hard water-resistant seal then the watch will not be able to face the water in an effective manner.

6) A dip in quality

There is also a possibility that you are deceived by the watch’s company. They might have sold you the watch of poor quality. You must make sure that the watch will be inefficient if the production is not successful and efficient. You should return the watch at the spot, whenever you realize that you are deceived.

How To Remove Condensation from Watches? Step By Step Guidelines

It is easy to remove condensation from the watch, but first you should recognize that how you can identify condensation. There will be some internal dew drops on the crystal on the watch face, whenever there is condensation.

When you notice that some metal parts in the watch are becoming rusty, then you should be very sure that the condensation has penetrated into the watch’s parts entirely.

After penetrating the entire system of the watch, condensation will corrode the inner system. You should take the watch to an expert watchmaker, as he will save you from this problem and you will have a fresh watch without condensation.

The Most Basic Methods on How to Defog Your Watch Crystal

Once you have identified the condensation, then the next step is to remove this condensation from the watch. How can you do this? This portion will answer this question, and you will find all the answers and methods to remove the condensation easily.

The best way after identifying the condensation is to take the watch to a reputable watchmaker, and he will remove the condensation effectively.

You should ber very careful that you do not try before taking it to a watchmaker. If you want to try once, then you should try with specific methods as explained below. All the below-given methods are the best ways to remove condensation from the watches. All these will be helpful if they are tried effectively.

1) Absorb the fog with a bed of rice/artificial desiccants

In history, rice has been engaged with dehydrating camera equipment and preventing salt shaker clumping. The best form in this work is to adopt the instant branch which is more commonly adopted in terms of moisture-wicking than uncooked rice. This will produce better results with its dried state of preservation.

When you identify the droplets on the watch crystal, then you should remove the crown and put it into a jar of rice overnight or twice the period. The crown can be placed into a small container of silica gel or cat litter for a while, and this process will get the fog off your watch. You must check, afterwards, whether the moisture has been sucked out or not.

2) Get the mist out of your watch under direct sunlight

Somedays, there is a shiny day, and your window receives a hearty amount of sunlight reflection. There is a possibility that you have dived into the swimming pool without removing your watch from the wrist.

When all this happens incidentally, then you should place the watch in the sun for some time. After some time, keep checking the watch’s condition.

If the back is easy to remove, the you should remove it before lying the watch dial-up in a downward direction. After that, let the natural heat warm the backup.

3) Warm the Foggy Watches With Alternative Sources of Heat

There are some cloudy days, and there is not always a sunny day. How can you remove moisture in these days? you should lay a foggy watch under the sun and it will be dried by heat. If the sunlight is not available, then you should find another controllable artificial heat source.

Laying lamp beside your bedside is also an alternative, and it is very useful. When you put your watch untucked back upside down the shade, then there is a possibility that the watch will be safe. When all the mist is vaporized, then place the watch outside for the parts to cool down completely before reassembling.

The other options are blown dryer or an oven. These processes are the most effective, and you should spend much time during this process. You should remove the back case of your watch and the inner workings as well. After this, lay all the parts on a towel or cloth, without any specification of the directions.

After all this process, now it is your specific duty that you connect all the parts effectively. Please make sure that you pay full head to the parts’ connection in an effective way.

What do water-resistant Ratings really mean for your watch?

At the back of the watches, there are water resistance mentioned. But you should keep in mind that all the watches have different resistances. And you cannot interpret the written resistances into reality, because there is always a low to the given rating of water resistance.

If the watch is 50-meter watertight, then the rubber O-ring seal still stays in place under a 50-meter water bed. Let’s take a practical example. Under the water, there will be an equal pressure with the point 50-meter under still water. All the ratings will seem negligible as the friction which is created by your arms while swimming on the surface and under still water is equal.

For safety reasons, you should not swim with a watch under 10 ATM/bars of water-resistance value. You should not let the rain come into contact with your watch if it is in a 3-ATM range. You should keep in mind that all the parts are not fully water-resistant.

How to Save a Watch from Condensation?

“Prevention is better than cure”, is a famous old saying. So, it is better if you follow some disciplines which will protect youor watch and you are not contacting the watch with different liquified conditions. You should get yourself a watch with considerable water resistance. In this way, you will keep your watch safe and healthy from the different harsh conditions.

Following are the rules which should be followed of water resistance ratings for you as a reference:

  • 30 meters (3 bars/ATM): Resist against hand-washing, water splashes, and a drizzle.
  • 50 meters (5 bars/ATM): Resist against heavy rain.
  • 100 meters (10 bars/ATM): Resist against water sports like swimming or snorkelling.
  • 200 meters (20 bars/ATM): Resist against deep diving.
  • When your watch face suffers a crack, then you should buy a new watch or replace it.
  • Always keep your watch away from any contact with water at any level.

Conclusion

When your watch face the condensation, then all the grace of your watch will be destroyed. Your watch will lose its grace and beauty after coming into contact with water. You should keep in mind that you are aware of true water-resistant value.
